A Letter from our Pastor

Our Congregation is made up of people from all walks of life. Georgetown Assembly is a blend of brand-new believers and established, mature Christians. In our congregation you will find everyone from business owners to school bus drivers to homemakers and most importantly, we are people hungry for more of God and His Word in our lives.

We as a local church in this community are called to go deeper into our relationship with the Lord-to go beyond religion and discover the reality of the loving, merciful God we serve. No matter where we live or what we do, God is using us to reach this community and a world with His undying love. Together we are learning to live victorious lives based on the promises in God’s Word.

We are called to share the good news of Jesus Christ, live out our faith every day in love and walk in all of the promises that God’s Word has guaranteed for us as believers. We are called to share that life-changing message of Jesus Christ, as well as the love of God to our local communities, our country and our world.

We at Georgetown Assembly want you to know that God loves you and so do we.

This is a Praisin' Place

Here at Georgetown Assembly of God, we place much emphasis on praise and worship.  God deserves our praise.  God desires our praise.  God demads our praise.  God's word says, "Let everything that hath breath, praise the Lord" (Psalm 150:6).  This leaflet will give yo some information about our church and explain the scriptural pattern of our worship unto God.

1. WHY DO WE STAND TO SING?

"And the Levites...of the Kohathites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Isreal with a looud voice, on high."       (2 Chronicles 20:19)

2.WHY DO WE LIFT OUR HANDS?

"Thus I will bless thee while I live:  I will lift up my hands in Thy name." (Psalm 63:4)  "I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."    (1 Timonthy 2:8)

3.  WHY DO WE HAVE AUDIBLE PRAISE TO GOD?

"I will bless the Lord at all times:  His praise shall continually be in my mouth. "  (Psalm 34:1)  "...and when they heard this, they lifted their voice to GOd.    (Acts 4:24)

4.  WHY ARE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS A PART OF THE WORSHIP SERVICE?

"Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp.  Praise Him with the trumpet and dace: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.  Praise Him upon the loud cymbals:  praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals."   (Psalm 150:3-5)

5. WHY DO WE DANCE IN WORSHIP?

"Praise Him with the trumpet and dacne."  (Psalm 149:3)

"David danced before the Lord with all his might."  (2 Samuel 6:14)

6.  WHY DO WE HAVE SPEAKING WITH TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION OF THOSE TONGUES IN THE CHURCH?

"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given man to profit withal.  To another divers kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues."  ( 1 Corinthians 12:7, 10)

7.  WHAT IS PROPHECY?

"But he that prophesieth speaks unto men to edification, and exortation, and comfort."    (1 Corinthians 14:3)

8.  WHY DO WE PROPHESY?

"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts , but rather that ye may prophesy.    (1 Corinthians 14:1, 10)
